If it’s performance and a compact size you are looking for, the Humminbird 386ci DI is an excellent choice. With a brilliant color 3.5″ display and 500W of transmitting power, the 386ci will show you the underwater world with a clear and easy-to-see image. At 83 kHz, you will be able to see deeper and wider, but you may sacrifice some detail.

This is a great way to first scout an area to see what looks promising, and once you find an area, you can hone in on it using 200 kHz for narrower, higher-quality targeting. Add this with GPS capability, and you can mark off your favorite fishing spots wherever you go, and plan an entire route hopping from one great fishing spot to the next.

HUMMINBIRD UNIMAP

The 386ci has Humminbird’s UniMap built in, which has charts for the contiguous US coastline as well as inland lakes and rivers. It can show you detail at a resolution of 30 meters per pixel, so on the coast, you can see features like canals and many navigational lights.

Inland, there are charts for virtually all lakes and rivers, plus hundreds of thousands of smaller lakes that don’t appear on other charts. You can also expand the unit using the memory card slot for Navionics Gold, Hotmaps, and Lakemaster charts.

My name is Shane Baker and when I am not with my family or working here I am out fishing! I caught my first fish when I was 6 – it was a trout at a stocked pond here in TX. Ever since fishing has been a passion of mine!
